In Support of Jason Henkel and Family
As some of you know, Jason's health has been declining for the last few months. Last fall, a newer tumor became worrisome, he underwent full brain radiation in late October with the hopes that it would slow down the growth. He had a scan in January that was promising, and he finally started doing immune therapy, KeyTruda, in late February after months of battling with our insurance. In March he started noticing that his eyesight was deteriorating, so he went in for another scan and there was growth this time. His doctor added oral chemotherapy to the regimen, in hopes that it would help to slow the growth down. I also reached out to see if treatment overseas in Germany could offer something different than here in the US, but unfortunately, that did not pan out the way we had hoped. He continued to have issues with his eyesight and increased headaches, and underwent another MRI in May. This showed increased growth yet again even with the two treatments.
With no other options for treatment, we made the very hard decision to put Jason on hospice.
