In Support of Schlemmer Family

On January 8, 2025 Christopher Ryan Schlemmer returned to his Heavenly home after battling Influenza A, meningitis and pneumonia. At 9 months old Christopher was diagnosed with an ultra rare metabolic genetic condition called PMM2-CDG, a condition that effected him head to toe. Despite the physical and mental challenges he faced, Christopher was smart, mischievous, cheeky, funny, manipulative and he always knew he would get his way.

Upon arriving to the U of M PICU Christopher’s health rapidly declined resulting in the most terrifying moments of his family’s life.

Once Melissa and Ryan made the selfless and loving decision to withdraw care, Christopher passed quickly and without pain.
His final moments were spent being held by Mom, Melissa, while Dad, Ryan, ran his fingers through his hair. Christopher’s bed was surrounded by his immediate and extended family members who all placed their hands on him.

Christopher’s brothers Nick, Alexander, and Theodore were at his bedside and were able to comfort him and love him while he passed.

As their friends and family, we know there are many waiting and willing to help the Schlemmers and offer their support at this time.

All donations will go to Melissa, Ryan and the boys to allow them to take the time they need to properly grieve and celebrate Christopher as they start this journey.

We are so grateful for everyone who has reached out in love and concern. Melissa has read every text and message. Your love has not gone unnoticed.

More updates to come as the family sees fit.

All our love,

Rylie
