Still in ICU, but for real thinking he will get moved today!
Brett Burford
Happy Monday!
We had a tiny setback yesterday. Brett was tachycardic (high heart rate) for quite awhile yesterday and some of his blood levels were down. They thought he may be experiencing a bleed, so they decided to keep him in ICU for another night. However, after getting some fluids and getting his pain under control, everything bounced back to normal levels - thank you Lord!
We've had a busy morning already, and it's been really good! The vascular team came by and said he should be good to finally move into a regular room today! Plan is to continue on the low dose of Xarelto and monitor him for a few days. They want him up and walking around and doing regular activities so that if a bleed is triggered, we will be in the hospital already.
Longer term, he really needs to be on these blood thinners for a good six weeks or so. He's in a window right now where he's at higher risk for more blood clots, so our prayer is that his body can handle the dosage of blood thinners without having any spontaneous bleeds.
Physical Therapy has also already come by. He did a lap around the ICU using a walker, and they were very impressed with how he's progressed so quickly after a major surgery! It took a lot out of him, but he said it felt good to get up.
Prayer Request for today:
- For vitals to stay stable as he starts moving around more
- No more internal bleeds & no more blood clots!
The vascular surgeon said he can tell Brett is someone who overcomes and adapts. I couldn't agree more!
Love you all!
