We are home!
Wesley Peterson
Hey friends-
Good news! We got to come home last night. Wesley cleared round 2 of chemo with absolutely no side effects to recover from so we get to wait out the remainder of the 21 day cycle at home. We will be admitted for round 3 after Valentine's day. Wesley got up and went to school this morning and I am continually in awe of him and his attitude through this
The battle with our insurance company has begun and we are currently in a time sensitive fight over a very important medication he needs to have before Friday night at 10pm. Our case manager spent the entire day working on it yesterday and we are praying she can get somewhere with it today. The out of pocket price for the medication is out of touch with reality and not an option.
After spending 24 of January's 31 days in the hospital, we are all feeling eager for normalcy.. as close as we can get. It's very dormitory style living on the cancer unit- we are really glad to have our own kitchen, bathroom and laundry room again!
Everyone keeps asking how we are doing- and we are doing OK. We are a bit scattered, but functional where we need to be. We couldn't be doing this without Megan and Priscilla for coordinating our entire lives and just doing all the thinking for us; my mom, Rick and Ryan for taking overnight shifts at the hospital so we didn't have to be there every night and each and everyone of you for all the different avenues of support you've been there for. It means the world to us and we would not be "OK" without you all.
Also- every keeps asking for adoption updates for the not so baby "babies". It's still happening, but delayed... we are just waiting for a few tedious approvals and a signature from the judge! Priscilla has taken on the task of keeping them on schedule and super loved through all of this and they are handling this incredibly.
Thank you,
The Petersons
