One Week Away
The Zeidman Family
We are so very grateful for the outpourting of love, support, and prayers. I cannot say enough about how much your calls, texts, e-mails, and prayers have impacted us. It is overwhelming to know we have such an army behind Anat.
What We Know
We spent the past week camped out at MD Anderson under the care of Dr. Fred Lang, the Chairman of Neurosurgery. Dr. Lang and his team, as well as the Care Team at MDA, have been true angels guiding us through this process of uncertainty. In the past week, Anat has had a functionl MRI, EKG, CT Scan (x3), Cognitive Assesment, and other labs. It's exhausting for her, but she's taking it like a true Israeli warrior! The good news is that from what we've been told, they do not see anything new. The tumor does not appear to have spread beyond the front left part of her brain, we know it is a low-grade glioma, and we know that it is an ideal location for surgery. The rest will be determined in surgery, and then in pathology. That is what we can hope and pray for - that Dr. Lang and his team are able to succesfully remove the tumor in full, and that no additional treatment is needed.
Dr. Lang did tell us that should additional treatment be required, the therapies available today, even in the past five months, are significantly advanced.
So we wait, which is hard. As the rest we will find out during surgery, and about a week after when we get the pathology results back.
Anat has been occupying her time with the kids and visiting with so many of you who have called or stopped by. It's such a nice distraction, and while we hate that this is the reason we are getting to see so many people, it has been nice to spend real time with many of you. So thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Life At Home
Ayelet (8) and Yariv (5) are well aware of what is going on. Their school, AOS, from the faculty, staff and parents, have gone above and beyond in terms of support, counseling, logitics, and prayer. We continue to try to keep their lives as normal as possible and be as present as we can for all of their activities.
Brain surgery is sheduled for April 25th. I will send an update shortly after. We epxect Anat will spend 4-5 days in the hospital, and then be discharged here at home. Recovery will vary, but I am confident she will be more eager to get home and start Anat 2.0 as she says soon.
Please feel free to reach out to me via this portal, or e-mail/text. I am slow to respond, which is not like me, because it's been absolutly overwhelming the love we are receiving.
From the deepest part of our hearts, thank you all. We love our friends and family and all I can say is we feel your prayers, we see your genorsity, and we know you are there for us. Thank you thank you thank you.
For those who have asked, Anat's Hebrew name is Anat bat Gila Kaufman
With love,
Anat and Jay
