Anat is Home!!
The Zeidman Family
Earlier today, Anat was discharged from MD Anderson. If there was any doubt that she was ready, Anat opted to walk out on her own instead of with a "required" wheelchair escort. When I went to get the car from the garage, she was already standing on the street ready to jump in! She returned to our home where we were greeted by family and friends, followed by a long nap in bed! The kids then came home from school and were thrilled to see her. It truly was a special day for our little family.
Her pain is minimal, she is fully mobile, and we do not see any impact on her speech and memory. It is absolutely amazing how she has come out of this surgery. We will now wait to see how the pathology comes back, which we expect on May 8th. Until then, she's home resting, eating, and recovering.
Her surgery did require the front half of her head to be shaved. The incision, which stretches across her entire scalp, will be completelty covered when her hair grows back. More importantly, she is absolutely unphased by the new look. Anat will wear bright color scarves with pride as her recovery progresses.
We continue to be overwhelmed and grateful with the love, support, prayers, cookies, flowers, visits, and well wishes from all of you.
Love,
Jay
