Hello Family and Friends,

As many of you know, Mark and Sarah Humiston and three of their five children recently passed away in a tragic incident. Brielle, their 11-year-old daughter, survived and will be cared for by Sarah’s mother and brother, Kathryn and Joseph Ogden. 

Mark and Sarah were wonderful people who made wise and thoughtful choices throughout their lives. Because of their prudence, Brielle will eventually have access to funds to support her as she grows. However, the complexity of this situation is tremendous. Kathryn and Joseph are handling this responsibility with admirable skill, all while providing Brielle with the stability and love she needs.

In the immediate term, there are several pressing needs. The family hopes that any funds left by Mark and Sarah will go directly to support Brielle’s future. Many of you have expressed a desire to help financially, and there are significant expenses involved, including legal fees and funeral and burial expenses for five loved ones, along with the sudden, ongoing care for Brielle. Kathryn and Joseph are also managing the family’s estate and, amidst it all, need time and space to grieve. 

To assist with these immediate needs, we have set up this fund. All contributions will go directly to Kathryn and Joseph to help meet the legal, practical, and emotional needs of Brielle and the broader situation.

The family also wants to emphasize that your support—whether through financial assistance, prayer, or other support—means so much. They ask that gifts come only from those who will not experience undue hardship as a result of their giving, and they deeply value the strength of your prayers, which they consider to be of primary importance.
