Hi y’all!

Whew.. it’s been a while since we did an update here. Thanks so much for everyone that has been following along with our guy’s journey. The last two months have been a dream. We have been in a block of chemo called “Interim Maintenance” where we had minimal at-home meds and only went in for chemo every ten days. Zeke still has a fuzzy head and the energy of a normal four year old boy. It’s been a breeze, at times feeling like nothing is wrong.

Interim maintenance ended on Friday April 26th and we’ve had two blissful weeks of no treatment. On May 10th, we will enter into an 8 week treatment course called “Delayed Intensification”. The purpose of this chemo block is to destroy any remaining leukemia cells that cannot be detected by testing. This treatment is exactly how it sounds… intense. It will include steroid sprints, intense weekly chemo and at-home shots. Due to the toll this block takes on children’s immune systems, we are also at increased risk for inpatient admission.

This is the last true mountain of his treatment. While treatment will continue until 2027, it seems like we are preparing for the last uphill climb. We feel very apprehensive about this next season, as intense treatments are intense on our family. We are, however, holding on to hope since we know what is on the other side. We will try to do a better job of keeping everyone updated as we journey through the next 8 weeks!

In VERY HAPPY NEWS, we received two big gifts last week! First, we got approved for Katie Beckett Medicaid which will cover any of Zeke’s outstanding medical bills that will not be covered by our insurance. Second, Zeke was approved for a Wish from Make-A-Wish. Based on Zeke’s love of family time, playing outdoors and general romping around, we are thinking of asking for a long RV trip to Yellowstone National Park! That might seem like chaos to some but it sounds like a dream to us.

What we are praying towards //
-Easy port access on May 10th
-Someone to watch Zeke during the week during June and July
-No overnight hospital stays during this block
-A quick match to a Wish Discovery Volunteer (the individual who will help us plan Zeke's Wish!)
