Friday was the big day. After our appointment Matt and I both said we just felt numb. It's like you know you have cancer and you know you will need chemotherapy and surgery but hearing the actual stage and then sitting with a Chemo coordinator for 30 mins is a whole new ball game.
So the formal diagnosis is Stage 3C Ovarian Cancer. Now we know and can take a collective deep breath. In full disclosure, Matt and I were mentally prepared for Stage 4, and while that feels miiiiiighty close, we are so thankful to be in the 3s!
We've been waiting for this appointment, for the facts and to put a plan in place (more on the plan in the next update). As I was processing everything on Friday, I point blank asked Dr. Yap if I was going to beat this and she nodded her head and said yes.
That is the hope we need to cling to. She has seen hundreds if not thousands of patients and I can tell that she isn't in the business of false hope.
She also reminded us that in about 75% of patients chemo completely knocks out the cancer.
