The Berndt Family
There is something to be said for making it to a halfway point. Like your mind and body know you can finish the race, the workout or the horrific round of golf. I'm happy to share we've made it through R3 and are HALFWAY through chemo treatments *pause for applause*.
Round 3 was very similar to the last round, no ER visits, a lot of sleeping and the hottest nurse this side of the Mississippi. I did feel like I had a lot of hallucinations that I was trying to remember so I could share with you all but that didn't happen. I just remember reality was a lot like a kaleidoscope... so yeah, they have me on the good stuff.
When I was able to keep my eyes open I could still feel some stomach pain as well as bone pain but I really did sleep for the majority of Saturday through Monday. Tuesday was a little tougher than last round but I think that is because the Neulasta also has some bone pain side effects as well. Another "down" day was a small price to pay for keeping my WBC / ANC counts high enough to stay on schedule going forward.
We continue to be showered with love, prayers, cards, casseroles and all of the flowers (a girl) and miller lite (a guy) could ask for. Thank you to our family, friends and incredible community for lifting our family up during this crazy journey. We love you all and continue to be humbled by your love and support.
Next Up: PET Scan 11/26, Dr. Appt 12/3, R4 Chemo 12/5
We Got This 🩵
PS - I read the journal Sarah puts together to start every round of chemo (in this picture). It's my favorite part of the day and gives me something to look forward to each round. So if you have pages, fill them out and send them back! There are no rules for what to write so let the spirit move you, sentimental, funny, VERY random... the journal has it all and I love it!
