I wanted to give an update on Landry as we were admitted to the hospital pretty unexpectedly yesterday afternoon. Right now we are in Peoria and the doctors here are consulting with our Cincinnati team.
Right now we are still looking for answers to explain a few days of very uncharacteristic behavior for Landry. Part of has been her unwillingness to bear weight through her legs most of the week so yesterday started with me asking her physiatrist for a hip x-ray (we already monitor dysplasia).
After talking to more of her team yesterday morning, she had several other concerning enough symptoms that we needed to get her to the hospital. Her x-rays were normal and we have been admitted on an EEG to rule out seizures since yesterday afternoon. She’ll more than likely be going for a sedated brain MRI, but, of course, it’s Friday afternoon and that may have to wait until early next week. I do expect to be here through the weekend.
I wish I could give more information, but for now there’s a lot we don’t know. Although, I’m really happy with how the attending team in Peoria is consulting with Landry’s neurologist in Cincinnati. We also have an incredible Palliative Care provider here that is on call.
Overall, Landry is stable, just very much not herself and we’re without any clear, obvious explanations. Not having the ability to tell us what’s bothering her just adds another layer of difficulty to the situation.
I joked with Landry’s Palliative doctor this morning that Landry is a puzzle and I’m tired of doing puzzles. 😂 But all jokes aside, we won’t stop, we will just (hopefully) get some rest.
Prayers for answers and comfort for Landry would be welcome. Chandler is happy at school and at Grandma & Grandpa’s house, but this is hard on her, naturally, so prayers for her would be appreciated as well. The girls were able to FaceTime last night so that was sweet for all of us.
Our hospital room is as cozy as we can make it right now. The mini Keurig that I keep with my hospital go bag continues to be one of the best purchases my mom has ever made for me. Being in and out of here so frequently really makes you appreciate the small comforts that can make everything seem a little more homey.
I will update as best and appropriately as I can. Thanks for praying and being on this wild ride with our family. 🤍
