What a day and what another change of plans…
We had a wonderful ED experience when we arrived last night. They were ready for Landry and we got to skip the waiting room chaos (and germs!) and go right to a room where GI had their recommendations waiting. We were admitted to the GI unit around 2am, but didn’t have much rest time.
Long story short, around 5am Landry’s respiratory status started to decline and we found she has a strain of coronavirus, different from Covid, but notoriously nasty.
Early afternoon we finally found the right combination of nausea meds to give her a break from vomiting and had her in a comfortable spot respiratory-wise to let her get some good rest.
We transferred from the GI unit and team to a hospital medicine floor that’s better equipped for her overall needs and will consult the specialties as needed. We’ve so far been able to avoid the PICU and I pray it stays that way.
Scoping Landry while sick is not off the table, but unfortunately, she’s too sick to do that yet even here. We’ll continue the conversation of finding the ongoing bleeding source, but have to manage her viral course before we can go back to making plans with GI.
Thank you for all the prayers while we drove last night and throughout the night and day. We are really thankful to be here and that we can get Landry the best care that she deserves.
I’m having a hard time keeping up with messages and texts, but please know that I read every single one and they mean so much.
