Today has been more of the same for Landry, unfortunately.
She developed a new fever this morning and a new rash shortly after that, but thankfully that has not returned after Benadryl helped it.
All of the obvious sources of a secondary infection have been negative. Her chest x ray was unchanged (a blessing after this much vomiting and a history of aspiration), a repeat viral panel still just shows the original coronavirus, stool samples are negative for GI bugs, and urine is clear of infection as well.
Blood cultures are still pending, but the last I heard they were not growing anything.
Our next step is a sedated brain MRI tomorrow. We hoped to get it done today, but because of the virus, oxygen requirements, and vomiting, it took the whole day to work through getting her approved for anesthesia. Sedation is not without risk under these circumstances, but so is not continuing to go after a potential source of infection.
I don’t know a time for her MRI because we are an add on to the schedule and will find out tomorrow. If I can, I’ll try to share a time when I have one.
We have felt so much love the past few days and are so grateful for everyone who is reaching out with encouragement and prayer.
Pete came back to Cincinnati tonight after going home Sunday night and will stay at the RMH while I sleep at the hospital with Landry. I was doing fine (getting by on a lot of adrenaline, I think), but am glad to not be the only one here anymore.
Thank you for continuing to pray for all of us and we’d especially appreciate prayers for a safe sedation tomorrow.
I added a picture of Landry’s sweet new puppy slippers from the gift shop for good measure and a smile. 😊🐶
