Hi friends,

Mom’s white blood cell count is down from 25,000 to 12,000 (the normal range is 4,500-11,000). Her blood pressure has stabilized. Generally, things are moving in the right direction, so she has been moved from the ICU to a regular room.

Hopefully the cultures come back tomorrow with news regarding a specific antibiotic. If it is an oral one, she’ll be headed home, but if it is intravenous, she’ll stay put for a few more days.

Regarding the kidney and bladder stones,  the hospital medical team is hoping they will pass on their own, but barring that, a course of action will be decided with the urologist next week.

She’s had LOTS of visitors today. Her extroverted self has loved it!

But Mariana’s cognitive impairment has been steadily declining as the MS has worsened, and when she has infections of any kind, her usual confusion/struggle to find words/memory loss turns into full blown sundowners from late afternoon - bed time. It’s REALLY hard to watch, when there’s so little you can do.

We’re so appreciative of y’all’s prayers and support. Keep it coming!

Best,
Bethany
