Hi friends.
Last night, my mom was hospitalized with what was presumably another UTI. It turns out that she has a kidney stone, a kidney infection, and a bladder stone. These things are wreaking havoc on her body.
The first thing they dealt with was performing a procedure (done last night) to place a stint that is helping drain the fluid that had built up in her kidney.
Broad spectrum antibiotics were started, but the infection had already spread to her bloodstream, so sepsis protocol is also in effect.
Her blood pressure dropped to a point the medical team was uncomfortable with, so they moved her to the ICU this morning and are administering medication, in hopes of helping it return to a more normal range.
Lastly, my mom had a PICC line placed this morning (thankfully!) to lessen the amount of times she has to be stuck/poked/prodded.
The medical team anticipates that my mom will remain hospitalized for the next week or so. Mom is already asking when she can go home and doesn’t understand and/or remember why she’s in the hospital and why she can’t go home yet.
We will update the list of ways you all can surround us once Dad has had more sleep! At this moment, we’d just covet your prayers.
