Sarah has officially finished her first round of chemo in the hospital. Woo hoo! But not without some excitement.
Sarah had an adverse reaction to the first chemo meds and ended up with shortness of breath and a blood oxygen level of 70%. The ICU team stepped in and gave her oxygen, steroids, and medication. It was super traumatic for Sarah, Grant, and me, but with a great hospital team and lots of prayers to God, Sarah got through it. She was able to complete her first round of chemo without any other major issues.
Sarah is still in the hospital completing IV nutrition and we are hoping she will be discharged home on Monday. She will continue with IV nutrition at home and Home Health will support Grant, along with his sister Shelby who is an RN and myself. Sarah is scheduled for her next round of chemo two weeks from now.
We continue to seek God’s joy and presence as we dwell in His tent. We appreciate all of the prayers, messages, nutritional support, childcare, flowers, cards, financial support, and care packages you all have provided Sarah and the family.
This week we are praying that the chemo is doing its job and reducing the cancer in Sarah’s body, for stable vitals and blood levels that will allow Sarah to be discharged home soon, and for comfort for Sarah’s girls who have been away from their mom since Monday.
With continued hope,
Kate

“The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

Ephesians 6:10-18 says to "Put on the full armor of God that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the enemy" I am praying for strength, joy and the peace that passes all of your understanding as you fight this battle of faith. The LORD will be there with you!
You are so loved, Sarah!!
