Hey everyone, welcome back. Updates are slow up that's not a bad thing. This one is delayed about a month but I promise I have a good reason. I'll get to that in a minute but I want to update you all on Paisley's latest appointments first.
On February 10th, 11th, and 12th Paisley had her routine quarterly appointments. Ophthalmology was first and we were pleased to hear that there in no change in the pressure on her eyes, and for the first time in over two and a half (maybe three) years.. Paisley's vision is 20/20! Praise God! She is so excited and if you bring up anything about her seeing she will tell you "Well I DO have 20/20 vision!"😂 Her cardiology appointment was also uplifting. The decrease in her ejection fraction that her doctors were monitoring is completely healed and no longer a concern! Her MRI also gave us another positive report. Her tumor has maintained its size. It did not shrink but it did not grow and so that is still a win. Dr Gass also felt comfortable pushing our appointments out to every three months instead of every month now. Which means lab draws will only be done under anesthesia during MRI appointments! Paisley is super stoked about that one! We will still continue her therapy appointments once a month though so that she has that outlet. All in all, we received a great report from all appointments.❤️
On February 13th we left our sweet home and we headed TO DISNEY!!! Paisley's Drs said "She, in my opinion, is in the best state right now to go to Disney." And so we did! We had an absolute blast and it was filled with so many eye openers, memories, and tears. Many many tears! 😅 And OF COURSE Mr. Snuggles (and Mamaw) came too!🥰
The resort we stayed at was Give Kids The World and it is just for Make A Wish families. It is almost completely ran by volunteers! It was an eye opener in itself. It brought up a conversation with the kids that you never truly know what someone is going through. Many of those children looked "normal" and healthy. Like Paisley. But others, there were signs that they are going through things that we know nothing about. It was a great reminder to be kind. Just be kind. It also brought a question that punched me straight in the gut. Paisley asked me "Mommy, is he sick...like me?" when she seen a little boy with a scar across the side of his bald head. 🥺 She's never called herself sick before. We've never had a talk that deep about cancer. I told her that we don't know for sure but we can assume he possibly has a tumor in his noggin and needed surgery just like she did. The surgeons went in the side of his head instead of the top, like hers. It was an emotional wake up call for me right there in that cafeteria and a harsh reminder that hard questions are inevitably coming.
Disney itself was magical! We had three full days to visit all four parks and meet as many characters as possible. Belle was absolutely wonderful with Paisley. Goofy made the boys laugh and smile more times than I can count. The Beast made an exception to his "you only get a post card for his signature" rule. The attention to detail on everything was absolutely incredible! The rides were so much fun and it was awesome to watch Bradie and Asher experience their first big kid rollercoaster at The Seven Dwarfs Mine train! And the light show/ fireworks at the castle? MAGICAL! I bawled like a baby! It is such a blessing that we got to experience it with our kids.🥹
We also got to experience Universal and I think it was the boys' favorite (their daddy included). Our passes were for two days and boy did we pack it all in. Again, we saw so many characters and got so many signatures! Coltyn, Paisley, and Bradley rode the Spiderman ride at least 5 times between the two days there. 😂 Bradie was NOT a fan of any ride that splashed water on him! Paisley was so excited to visit both Harry Potter worlds at Universal so we made sure to prioritize that. It was so crowded but of course she didn't mind. We were looking at the robes and a kind stranger walked up, handed me some cash and said "buy it for her" and simply walked away before I could utter a word. 🥹 The kindness we were shown was truly inspiring.
Another place we were able to squeeze in our trip was SeaWorld. It was a cloudy day and unfortunately we were hit with two little ones with a fever while there but we made the most out of it. I bought the most expensive bottle of Tylenol EVER in the park. 😅 Paisley and I rode a rollercoaster there called The Ice Breaker (I think) and oh my goodness.. that was rough even for me!😂 We were able to see the orca show though and sit in the splash zone (Again, Bradie HATED that!) as well as the dolphin show. A storm rolled in about that time so we cut our day at that point and headed back to our villa.
Any who, that's why the update is delayed. I needed time to get home, get settled, and recover all of us from the sickness we picked up there. We also had to find our routine again after a once in a lifetime trip to the absolute most magical and happiest place on Earth! 🥰 If any of you have any questions feel free to leave them in the comments or send me a message. Hopefully we are pretty steady and uneventful until our next set of appointments in May. I'll update you guys as I can.
Stay safe. Stay humble. May you be blessed. We love you all.
