Good Morning everyone! It is a chilly Friday morning for us here but I have some news here shortly that really warms my heart.
We have finished cycle 6 which means Paisley has been in treatment for 6 months. That seems so crazy to me! It feels like we just got her diagnosis! As the saying goes "life goes on" which seems to be the case for everyone around us. Sometimes it feels like we are "stuck" in a paused state.
I read something the other day that said "there comes a point in your life that is so impactful that it becomes a staple; everything revolves around that point." Paisley's diagnosis has become that point for me. Everything happened either before or after.
I know none of you have forgotten and all love our girl but just a friendly reminder to check in with families that have had an impactful occurrence, even months afterwards.
Now onto our second MRI results. I give 100% glory and praise to God because ladies and gentlemen, WE HAVE MORE SHRINKAGE!!!! 🙏🥹 We were told at our last MRI to not get too excited and not to expect shrinkage every time but God is in control and no man can say what He is or isn't capable of! Here are the exact measurements (for my record as well as info for those interested in specifics).
~3/14/24 Original scan when we first found the tumor: 3.9x3.5x3.7cm
~5/22/24 Post surgery: 3.5x3.5x3.0cm
~8/28/24 3month scan: 3.1x2.9x2.4cm
~11/19/24 6month scan: 2.9x2.8x2.1cm
This MRI was a little more eventful than they have been before. The IV they put in infiltrated and my babygirl woke up during the procedure! Thankfully they were able to start another IV quickly and she doesn't remember waking up! Unfortunately because she had to have that extra dose, she was super sick all day yesterday from the anesthesia. If she's not better by lunchtime today I will be calling them back and see what we need to do from here.
So while the scan was very uplifting that treatment IS working to shrink the tumor, all medication has side effects. It is routine that Paisley has a echocardiogram with her scans to monitor her heart function. While she is still very much okay and the doctor's are not concerned, her ejection fraction (how much blood the left ventricle pumps out with each contraction) has went from 66%, to 64%, and now to 58%. anything above 53% is good! So we are not in abnormal range yet but it is something for us to watch and monitor. We will have a repeat echo in 6 weeks to see where we are then. We are praying it won't cause any changes in treatment!
All of her bloodwork looked stable, as well as her ophthalmology scans!
Her hair has continued to thin and it is becoming more and more obvious, especially in the front/sides so I'm curious to see when she will notice it or complain with being cold. I am praying it won't be a huge hurdle in the upcoming cold months but we will take it one stride at a time. ❤️🩹
We have packed so many appointments into this week and honestly it's been an emotional week for all of us. This journey has been a roller-coaster to say the least. We are all exhausted and I'm thankful for a small break in appointments.
I think that's about all the new information I have for you guys right now. I appreciate all the prayers and love more than y'all know!
I hope everyone has a safe, fulfilling, and blessed Thanksgiving. I know this will be our first holiday without Grandmaw Teague so I am praying for anyone whose holidays look different this year as well.
Stay safe, stay humble, and as always God bless!
