In Support of Owen’s Medical

Owen was diagnosed with hydrocephalus when he was 6 months old and had his first brain surgery just days later. He had a shunt placed to help fluid drain to help ease the pressure in his head. Shunts have around a 40-50% chance of failing. Owen had his 1st shunt failure the week of his first birthday!

With every sign of an illness, we have taken him to the ER to have a shunt series scan to rule out shunt failure. Shunt failure symptoms are very similar to having the flu. So we can't play the wait and see with him. Each time he goes in for the scans, we have to pay around $1300 after insurance. And if he does have a failure, we have that surgery to pay as well.

With this support registry, we can have a cushion waiting to help ease us financially.
