Surgery Success
Emily Powers
Emily faced the first obstacle in her Breast Cancer journey with such courage this morning. After a two hour early morning surgery, she now has successfully finished her bilateral mastectomy + lymph node removal and is now recovering. Her surgeon said she did beautifully and expects her to heal well, with a lot of rest and care. Her spirits remain high, as she maintains her "one day at a time" attitude.
Our parents (Ghia & Grandpa) live in Orange Beach, and our precious Mom remains in town helping care for Emily and her family as she transitions into her new normal.
I want to close with a HUGE thank you to each one of you that have donated to the Gift Card/Grocery fund and sponsoring a Monthly Housekeeping Service for her. Because of your amazing generosity, Emily will get to come home to a professionally cleaned home after today's surgery. And you guys have sponsored 5 more monthly cleanings after this one that I will schedule for her in the coming months as she walks through chemo treatments next.
I will also be purchasing gift cards to their favorite local restaurants and Publix this week so they have them in time for her first weekend at home. These will help supplement the meal train that her nearby homeschool friends are providing to her doorstep, and give them flexibility to order take out or fresh groceries when needed.
So THANK YOU for praying her through today, your generosity in loving on her in practical ways, and leaving words of encouragement as she continues to overcome this Breast Cancer diagnosis.
"Lord, by such things people live; and my spirit finds life in them too. You restored me to health and let me live." Isaiah 38:16
