10th strike
Today was strike 10 against chemo! Not that we are counting or anything… but there are only 2 more to go after this! WOW!

Coach’s lab work was a grand slam today. Which is very reassuring and always a sigh of relief. Coach wasn’t feeling confident going into today’s game as the last few rounds have had a cumulative effect and he was more exhausted than ever. So getting a great lab report really lifted his spirits!
Todays chemo chaperone was his dear friend and former baseball coaching partner, Mark Hutts. Back in their coaching days they certainly won more games than they can count. But outside of the diamond they have both walked through some hard losses…. Which has made their relationship extra special. My dad’s favorite player was Mark’s son, Michael. And one of the hardest days of my dad’s life was the day he gave the eulogy at Michael’s service. There is no doubt Michael is coach’s real life angel in the outfield. Psalm 91:11 says “for He will order His angels to protect you wherever you go.”
We are so humbled and grateful for all the ways the Lord has shown his mercy and healing. While the cumulative chemo build up has caused an extra dose of fatigue we are thankful that he doesn’t have any other major negative side effects and especially thankful he has remained strong enough to attend every scheduled chemo appointment, never having to call a timeout or huddle on the mound.
The play book… for now… reads as follows. He will have the remaining two chemo treatments, number 11 and number 12. Then he will return to the Mayo Clinic for additional rounds of scans. There has been talk that he *might* require radiation but we will cross that bridge when and if we come to it.
Thank you for the ongoing fan support. These are the best fans any coach and team could ask for.
Let’s keep playing ball and praising the lord!

So sorry to hear of the growing fatigue and discomfort. I hope last weeks chemo wasn’t as burdensome. And glad to hear Mark was with you.
All the Walker family is praying for you often. You are a wonderful man and role model. Take care, Raymond
