Seventh inning stretch
Bobby Worthington
Seventh inning stretch:
The seventh inning stretch is an old tradition in the game of baseball where there is an intentional pause in the middle of the 7th inning, allowing players and the crowd to stand up and stretch, grab a snack, and re-group for the remaining innings. They often play “Take me out to the ball game" during this time.
Today we started the seventh inning stretch. and are loudly singing “take me out of the hospital” which worked because….
*COACH MADE IT TO HOME BASE*
He is settling into a little slice of heaven located right on the beach! Vitamin Sea was part of the doctor’s orders. We are so thankful to the Yancey Family for offering their condo.
We are taking this 7th inning intentional pause to stretch and re-group and then gear up to enter the remaining innings….. chemotherapy. This will take place in Atlanta and begin in around 4ish weeks. Details are being worked out but not yet set in stone.
While coach has wowed the doctors… he is still susceptible to post-op complications if he doesn’t follow the very strict league guidelines. We know he’s a rule follower so this should be easy for him!
While fireworks are often reserved for end of the game, we did have some today in the 7th inning when we celebrated the news of
*CLEAR LYMPH NODE PATHOLOGY!*
another praise, miracle, and answer to prayer.
Coach is getting pampered at the condo…. He has the team mom, brother Billy, Leslie, and Will there to tend to his every need!
He was so tickled to receive a signed baseball, a jersey, and a hat from his Wesleyan Wolves. While he is so sad so not be able to coach y’all this season, he will be keeping up with the scoreboard and stats and certainly adding in his 2 cents along the way!
A HUGE cheer and crowd wave 🌊 to the entire staff at the Mayo Hospital. The facility was top knotch. The staff was intelligent, compassionate, considerate, and communicative. The Doctors are among the best in the Nation. We are forever grateful for the opportunity to have been under the care of a Hospital system like this.
Jason Sheer, a dear friend, texted this to my dad and I knew I had to share….
“The great CS Lewis once said, ‘God whispers to us in our pleasure, speaks in our conscience, and shouts in our pain. Suffering is a megaphone to rouse a deaf world.’ And The way I see it, God just handed a megaphone to the best storyteller I know.”
Watch out world, coach now has a megaphone! 📢
Let’s take a stretch, then keep playing ball, and we won’t ever stop praising the Lord!
🐻⚾️BEAR STRONG⚾️🐻
(Mom and I visited the hospital gift shop and there happened to be a shirt that said “MAYO STRONG”… someone must have given them a heads up that BEAR STRONG was coming their way!)
