Roundin third and headed for home
Bobby Worthington
Roundin third and headed for home.
Coach continues to make tremendous strides and progress. He stole a few bases which moved his projected discharge date up a few days earlier. The new anticipated d/c date is now Monday the 12th.
“The sun came out today. We're born again, there's new grass on the field. A-roundin' third and headed for home, It's a brown-eyed handsome man. Anyone can understand the way I feel” (now the Centerfield song will be stuck in your head too!)
As mentioned yesterday, he will discharge to a local condo that a family friend so graciously offered to them in order to recoup closer to the hospital for a few weeks until his follow up appointment.
He still has a long road ahead. They said he will be tempted to break the rule book on days he is feeling well… but he has strict rules against bending, lifting, and twisting for months to come. Thankfully, his mouth and voice box are still very much intact and he continues to be a man of many words! He can’t play golf with you but he can still talk your ear off!
Speaking of talking…he has found himself on many platforms and pulpits in his lifetime… pitchers mound huddles, football side line pow wows, delivering a Wesleyan commencement address, speaking words of comfort through offering a eulogy, officiating weddings, and leading highly important and influential business meetings. And yet, perhaps now he is on the greatest platform of all and God has replaced a microphone with a MEGAPHONE!
He continues to give all glory and praise to Christ, he continues to seek comfort in Christ, and he continues to tell others about Christ’s perfect plan.
Webb said it best when he said "dad, I'm so thankful God is giving us lots of extra innings with you."
Scoreboard: we are still winning!
- Today he conquered climbing up a few bleacher steps
- He had the best surprise visit from his dear friend and former coaching buddy (BJ Johnson) together they strolled the bases and had the best time catching up.
- We had a family dinner in the hospital room and Davis put princess bandaids on Bear’s boo boos.
- He got a new uniform which replaced the hospital gown! And includes a ball cap!
Prayers:
- Continue to pray for pain management. Specifically horrible lower back pain and muscle spasms
- No surprises or major bumps in the road
- Clear pathology of the lymph nodes
- Full healing in Jesus name
- A clear pathway for ongoing management of chemotherapy, follow up appointments, etc.
Let’s keep playing ball and praising the lord!
