Keep your eye on the ball

You might not know but Bob has coached all three of his children in a variety of sports. In fact, after dad and I worked tirelessly one summer to prepare for softball tryouts I showed up feeling confident and prepared… only to be told “you are throwing wrong.” Insulted and taken aback I asked her what she meant… and she said, “well, Maggie, you are throwing like a boy.” I sure made my dad’s day when I came home to report how tryouts went!

Throughout the years (more times than we can recall) he would instruct us to “keep our eye on the ball….even when we can’t see the ball.”

In the same way the Bible instructs us to “keep our eyes fixed on the goal and push on to secure the prize of God’s heavenward call in Jesus Christ.” Philippians 3:24-21

And that is what this game is all about. Having Faith when you don’t know the outcome or even the next pitch coming your way. Just be prepared to swing!

Enough preaching… let’s get to the scoreboard!

WE ARE WINNING!

Here are todays wins:

1. The concession stand advanced their menu to include soft food! Namely mashed potatoes, pot roast, green beans, and ice cream. Let’s pray his new anatomy can handle its new expectations.

2. We visited the locker room and his OT daughter encouraged a sponge bath.

3. We took multiple walks around the bases and even a walk all the way to the outfield

-tomorrow he will try to climb the stadium stairs to make sure he can do this at home.

4. We have a chance of getting off the field sooner than expected…. Aiming for Super Bowl Sunday #teamtaylor

 - coach and his team mom will be staying at a friends nearby condo for a few weeks while he continues to recover and await his follow up appointment. Billy and Leslie are coming up Sunday and will be joining them here in Jax. This will be so helpful!

5. "I  don’t know why you got this, but we need more advocates like you. And I am hopeful you will be a pancreatic cancer survivor!” -Dr. S. (Surgeon)

Prayer requests:

  1. The lymph nodes they sent off to pathology and more specifics for the pancreatic tumor are still pending. We are hopeful and prayerful that the lymph nodes are negative. Please join us in praying for that!
  2.  Continued physical healing and progressing towards discharge
  3. Prayers for the remaining innings… there are many. This is a LONG recovery process. Followed by 6 months (minimum) strenuous chemo treatments. Right now we have endurance… and we need to maintain it!

Thank you for the ongoing love and support. Coach is loving the texts, emails, and comments on the support page.

So let’s keep playing ball and praising the lord! 🐻⚾️BEAR STRONG ⚾️🐻

So grateful for these encouraging updates. This isnt a baseball analogy but I always think about the saying "anyone can eat an elephant.....one bite at a time" when faced with a monumental task. One day at a time and one "bite" at a time. Prayers being sent for all!
