I haven't updated in a few days because no news is good news! 

Last Friday (just 10 days after a MAJOR surgery) Coach had his first big outing--an away game. He attended the Jacksonville Osprey's game with Billy Worthington and BJ Johnson. All three of them used to coach together and I'm fairly certain they had more fun than all the other fans combined. 

His post op follow up appointment was originally supposed to be this Friday (2 week mark) however, he is doing so well they offered to move it up to Tuesday. So, tomorrow it is! We are certain he will be given a promising report as the surgeon already texted my dad to tell him that he is a walking miracle...very few do this well post-op. And coach is already attending sporting events, walking the beach, and taking care of business. 

Assuming all goes well tomorrow, they will start packing up and leave Jacksonville on Wednesday and make the journey back to Atlanta. 

The plan is to find the right Oncologist at Piedmont and then he will find out more specifics regarding the Chemotherapy regime.  

Interesting fact about coach.... He previously chaired and currently serves on the board of Domician Baseball FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) which is a missional platform dedicated to spreading the Gospel to children in Dominican villages through bringing their local coaches to faith and making disciples of these influencers.  He has coached youth sports his entire life and strives to use his coaching platform to foster relationships and mentoring opportunities allowing him to both share and model his faith.  

Regardless if he wins or loses a baseball game, you can rest assure his attitude will be Heavenly focused.... and that same attitude is carrying him through this cancer diagnosis. There really is no way to lose when you are Heaven focused. For he will either be healed on earth or in Heaven--either way a win!  

We are all on such a "high" right now. We have truly seen a modern day miracle. While we are not fully out of the woods nor guaranteed any outcome.... we are hopeful. And we are thankful for the "free baseball".... the  extra innings we get with Coach. 

He is loving all of the phone calls, emails, and text messages. Keep them coming! 

In baseball you wear your ball cap facing forward to remind you of where you are going... and Team Worthington is hustling forward!
